An 80-year-old woman has been found dead after apparently falling down a trash
chute in the same Gold Coast building where a 16-year-old boy fell to his death,
also down a trash chute.
A building engineer found
Florence Banta at the bottom of the chute in the 1500 block of North Astor
Street around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Banta, who lived on the 17th floor, had been reported missing March
30. A police alert described her as "a fragile woman who may be suffering with
anxiety and may be upset."
Police said they were investigating the circumstances of her death.
