Girl accidentally shot by relative packaging drugs

A 15-year-old girl was shot and critically wounded by a relative about the same age who was high and packaging drugs when he mishandled a gun.
The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical but stable condition, after getting shot in the 0-100 block of West 112th Street about 7 p.m.
The girl’s 16-year-old relative was taken into custody a couple hours after the shooting, and detectives were questioning him.
Everyone fled the scene and the girl’s relative dumped the gun in a sewer and called his mom, who wasn’t at home when the girl was shot. She arranged for her son’s surrender.
Others in the house fled with the drugs. Nobody else was injured.
