A young man was killed near the University of Illinois at Chicago's Near West Side
campus.
The fatal shooting occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of
South Laflin Street in University Village.
The 20-year-old victim was standing on the sidewalk when a gunman approached
on foot and fired several shots, striking the victim multiple times.
The wounded man was rushed to John H. Stroger Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead
