Girl, 9, critically injured in South Side hit-and-run

A 9-year-old girl crossing a South Side street with her mother Wednesday evening was struck and critically injured by a hit-and-run driver.
The girl was struck at about 8:46 p.m. in the 1000 block of West 87th Street in the city's Gresham neighborhood. The driver of the car fled the scene west on 87th Street. The car was described as a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda or Hyundai.
The child was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in very critical condition
