Boy, 14, charged with Far South Side murder

A 14-year-old boy is accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old man earlier this month in the Far South Side's Jeffery Manor neighborhood.
The boy, who is not being named because of his age, appeared in Juvenile Court today after being charged as a juvenile with murder for the fatal shooting Oct. 19.
According to a police report, the boy was identified as the person who shot Terrance Wright in the 9900 block of South Yates Avenue early that morning and caused his death.
An autopsy performed Oct. 20 determined Wright died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide.
Wright, who lived in the 5000 block of South Carpenter Street, was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He would have had his 19th birthday on Oct. 28.
The boy's mother directed police to the boy who was arrested Sunday morning in his bedroom in the 9700 block of South Merrill Avenue
