18-year-old killed in South Side shooting

An 18-year-old was killed Saturday evening .
The fatal shooting happened in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue, in the South Side's West Chatham neighborhood. The 18-year-old was standing on the sidewalk with someone else when a dark SUV pulled up about 7 p.m.
Several people inside the SUV began shooting, and a bullet struck the 18-year-old, later identified as Leroy Griffin, in the head.
Griffin, who lived in the 7500 block of South Langley Avenue, was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.
