Chicago police officer found dead in apparent suicide

A Chicago police officer was found shot to death in his Far South Side home this morning, an apparent suicide.
The officer suffered a gunshot wound to the head. His name was not being released, but he lived in the 900 block of West 129th Place. He was a 26-year veteran and was assigned to the Calumet District.
The Cook County medical examiner's office said the officer suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
