A 34-year-old man killed in the South Chicago neighborhood late Friday night was
pronounced dead at Advocate Trinity Medical Center about midnight after someone
shot him just after 11 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Kevin
Sanders.
Police said the man they arrested in connection with the shooting, who
himself had also been shot, ran to an apartmen of a family friend in a nearby
building in the same complex.
His girlfriend's car windows were smashed with a walker near where the
shooting happened and about 100 people surrounded the front door of the
apartment where he holed up, shouting threats and throwing rocks and
bottles.
Police hustled him into an ambulance that had backed up to the door and took
him to Advocate Trinity Hospital with a squad car on each side of the ambulance.
The person who shot the murder suspect is not in custody.

Father, I come in the name of Jesus asking you to strenghten this family right now. Move by your spirit Jesus and help every one that loved him dearly. Our hearts are broken.
