Latonya Morris, 30, of the 4000 block of South Wabash Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder in the Sunday night death of Rollins Stamps, 26, with whom she had two children.
Prosecutors said Morris stabbed Stamps in their home during an argument. After he was stabbed, a wounded Stamps was able to walk over to a neighbor’s house and ring the doorbell for help.
The woman who answered the door watched as Morris approached Stamps on the porch while wielding a knife, stabbed him repeatedly and kicked him in the head and side after he fell to the ground.
Morris instructed the neighbor to call the police and then walked back to her house.
Stamps was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m. Sunday
