Nathaniel Jakes, 36, of the 18200 block of South Idlewild Drive in Country Club Hills, has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, armed violence/discharging weapon, and aggravated fleeing/bodily injury and will appear in bond court today.
Mae Pettis, 31, of the 2100 block of West 77th Place, was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, running a red light, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance..
The chase started with a shooting around 1:55 a.m. Thursday on 87th Street between Loomis Boulevard and Ada Street. Officers in a police SUV saw the shooting and began the pursuit of a four-door sedan. The car lost control as it rounded a corner and crashed between a porch and a house. The SUV hit the car from behind and two officers were taken to hospitals.
The two officers were both treated and released from area hospitals
