A Chicago police officer shot and wounded a man who had turned toward him with a
gun during a foot chase in Englewood early Thursday.
Police had been called to the 6700 block of South Morgan Street to
investigate a report of shots fired.
Officers saw a vehicle leaving the area quickly, and when they followed it,
the driver took off on foot with a gun in his hand.
An officer ran after him into an alley, and when the man turned towards him,
the officer fired his weapon.
Neighbors reported hearing two bursts of gunfire. No officers were injured.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital with injuries that were not believed to
be life-threatening.
